About The Rescue
Who are Broken Halo Rescue?
Broken Halo Rescue was started by Kristy Williamson in November 2015. Kristy’s love for dogs has been a main focus of her life since childhood, after visiting a rescue in South Africa where she grew up.
Broken Halo Rescue now works to help animals who need safety, care, rehabilitation and loving homes.
What is Broken Halo Rescue?
Broken Halo Rescue is a very small not-for-profit organisation. The rescue works to help dogs and cats, rehabilitate animals where needed and find suitable homes for them.
The rescue also offers rescue back up for life and aims to keep in touch and offer support where needed to adopters, fosterers and the general public.
Is Broken Halo Rescue for dogs only?
No. Broken Halo Rescue also helps, rescues and arranges fostering and adoption for cats.
You can view animals needing homes or support on the 2026 Animals page.
What is the aim of Broken Halo Rescue?
The main aim of Broken Halo Rescue is to find foster and forever homes for animals in need.
Dogs are placed in foster homes and, where necessary, emergency boarding. Animals are assessed before being placed in homes so the rescue can work towards the right match.
Where is Broken Halo Rescue based?
Broken Halo Rescue is a foster-based rescue with animals in foster homes across the UK.
The rescue does not have a dedicated rehoming centre for visitors to attend. Animals awaiting adoption are cared for by volunteer foster families and individual fosterers in different locations.
In emergencies, when no foster space is available, animals may be temporarily housed in trusted kennels for the shortest time possible.
Adoption And Fostering FAQs
Is there a minimum age to apply?
Yes. You must be at least 21 years old to apply to foster or adopt.
How much is the adoption fee?
The adoption fee for dogs based in the UK is £420. For dogs who are abroad or originate from abroad, the adoption fee is £550.
Broken Halo Rescue does not offer payment plans, so all adoption fees must be paid in full before the adoption process is complete.
What does the adoption fee help with?
All animals are flea treated, wormed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and spayed or neutered, unless they are on a neuter contract due to age.
The adoption fee helps cover this care and also helps the next abandoned or abused animal reach safety and find their forever home.
Do you rehome to families with young children, flats or homes without gardens?
Yes. Broken Halo Rescue considers all kinds of people, families and homes. Every animal is different, so each application is assessed individually.
The team will consider whether you can meet the animal’s needs, including diet, exercise, training, home setup and whether now is the right time for you to foster or adopt.
Does fostering or adoption require a home check?
Yes. All successful foster and adoption applications are subject to a satisfactory home check carried out by the team.
Further information may also be requested if needed.
Applying To Adopt Or Foster
How do I apply?
If you would like to apply for one of the animals shown on the site, please complete the relevant adoption or fostering form.
Once you have filled it in, please also comment on your chosen animal’s rehoming post on Facebook, email the rescue, send a WhatsApp message or send an SMS to let the team know.
The team will then review your application and be in touch if they are able to proceed.
Where can I find the fostering and adoption forms?
You can use the buttons below to go directly to the forms.
How do I know if my application has been successful?
Broken Halo Rescue receives hundreds of applications each week and is run by a small team of volunteers, so unfortunately they cannot individually respond to every applicant.
Please be assured this is not personal. The team wants the right match for both the animal and the fosterer or adopter. They take time to review applications carefully and may also have a more suitable animal for you in the future.
If the rescue is able to proceed with your application, they will be in touch.
